  1. you guys always have the best videos.

  2. You “can’t wait to make it back to states to play some longer sets”??? Geee. What does that mean to us, living in Europe? We´re not worth of longer sets?
I have been to the concert at Waldsee, Freiburg, Germany. I really LOVED it. Very intense, almost manic perfomance. I haven´t seen a concert like this before, although I have been to almost 400 concerts in the last 35 + years.
But …. it might have lasted a bit longer.
Nevertheless, I will buy your next record.

    Peter Teubner//09.16.2008
  3. Actually it is because the last few US tours have been support slots and we only play about 40 minutes at the most. All our European tours are headliners and we get to play what we want or what we are capable of. Europe always seems to get full sets, except at festivals

    portugaltheman//09.16.2008
  4. So when will you guys come to Sweden? Or atleast Scandinavia? The rest of Europe needs you too, not only the german speaking countries (yes I know that you’ve been to Netherlands and a couple others.) It’s cold up here you know, maybe a bit like Alaska. Snow and stuff…

Btw, nice videos. The Created video made me appriciate the song so much more.

  6. I’ve been unsure about how I would rank CColors with the other Portugal. the Man albums, but after seeing these videos it’s official. Censored Colors is [hands down] the very best Portugal. the Man album ever written. Thank you, guys. This is incredible.

  7. This video of “created” has been played at least thirty times on my computer in the last four or five days. Thank you for having written it.

    Robert Ragosta//09.17.2008
  8. Amazing. So simple yet so beautiful.

    Paulette//09.17.2008
  9. [...] hallway. There’s a few more videos of the band performing live, in even stranger places, here. Get the Flash Player to see the Antiquiet Media [...]

  12. A live record or just an acoustic EP would be interesting.

    From Austria//09.21.2008
  13. gotta say my favorite is created. but the little kid in salt did grab my heart just a bit. just a little bit.

    Cheddar//09.21.2008
  14. Yep, these are great, I noticed the acoustics sounded really well on created. You should shoot something at that stair hallway at pike place market, that would also sound really good. All the hard work you put into censored colors really shows in every bit of the album. Couldn’t have asked or expected more! Can’t wait to hear my vinyl when it comes.

    ben.woodstove//09.22.2008
  15. I agree with From Austria. You guys should definitely release a live/acoustic record. Some of your vids on youtube are amazing. My favorite new vid is the created. Great concept. [on a sidenote... John you have freakishly perfect teeth].

I am an economics major and my senior capstone[thesis] is one the changing economics of the digital music industry. As part of my research, i have been looking into/thinking up new ways for bands to make money/reach more listeners/give their fans more. You guys putting your album up early was a good move. I have been a big PTM fan for a while, and here are some of the ideas I have for you guys. I have plenty more, so if you’re interested let me know.

Release a live DVD. Many of your video descriptions said they were filmed by a friend. You should enlist the services of this friend and put together some more great live acoustic performances and release a DVD.

    Release an acoustic album.

Include autographed and numbered posters for a limited number of your next release[500? 1000?]. This provides you with more money while also providing cherished one-of-a-kind memorabilia for your biggest fans[ I know I would love one].

The music industry has changed so much in the past decade. One of my inspirations for this topic was reading a blog from you guys about a year ago when you talked about the music industry. Bands used to need record labels for distribution, but that has been rapidly changing. Now a little known band from a little town half way around the world can spend a relatively small amoutn of money record something, and put it on myspace and be heard around the world. In an industry where record labels have less and less of a role, it requires changes to be made by the artists as well. Anyway… I won’t get into preaching…

Does anyone else like the few ideas I offered. If you like the idea of the Acoustic DVD, post which songs you would most like to see on it,

    Keep on rockin

    Ben//09.23.2008
  16. I was under the impression i might be able to read/edit my comment later. Sorry about all the misspellings and poor grammer. Wrote it quickly while I was at work [listening to PTM of course(and TSOAF)]

    Ben//09.23.2008
  17. amazing!!!! i love created so much.

    jordan//09.23.2008
  18. Great stuff. Always been a fan of your acoustic videos. Keep em’ coming.

    Bret//09.24.2008
  19. Please put up those clips on youtube, it takes a fucking while to get these loading properly.

Anyway some awesome stuff mostly the “created” one.

    Jimmy//09.25.2008
  20. I love the new CD. I love the videos. I am really bummed though. You guys are coming to Rochester (NY) on November 4th, and I would really love to go, but I can’t make it. It’s election day after all! I’m only using that as an excuse because I actually can’t get a ride. Rochester is an hour and a half from where I’m at. I saw you guys about a year or so ago in Troy(NY). It was one of the greatest concerts I’ve ever seen. You, Tera Melos, The Fall of Troy. How could it get better? I hope to make your show on the 4th.

    John//09.25.2008
  21. Amazing videos, I always love the acoustic videos you guys do, they add such a different feel to the song, so laid back and organic. I agree with what others are saying, an acoustic album would be awesome. Good luck on everything and I can’t wait to see you the night before 21’st Nov. 7′th!

    Chris Gorton//09.27.2008
  22. Cheddar, if you’re talking about their song “Salt”, the little kid is actually Zoe Manville who sings beautifully and complements John’s voice even more beautifully. Her myspace is http://www.myspace.com/theschoolboyerror

    hmmmm...//09.27.2008
  23. you guyss are ammazzing.

created is sucha simple yet elegant song.
    i love your music

    josephh//09.27.2008
  24. Can we have an acoustic of 1989 please? hehe ;)

    Landon//09.29.2008
  25. some answers….

We will post the 1989 video shortly. It is also on our vimeo page…

The little boy in “salt” is our manager’s baby

yes there is a girl who sings on the record, that is Zoe. She is also on tour with us in Europe

We are slowly putting the clips on youtube but the quality blows so we like vimeo better. Takes a while to load because they are bigger files

We are talking about recording acoustic and/or live but that is just in its infancy at the moment

Not sure when/if Jason is coming back yet

We will tour just about anywhere we can afford to. Granted there are limited number of days any tour can be but we will almost definitely make it to your city or somewhere close soon enough

    thats all folks

    portugaltheman//09.30.2008
  26. The quality on vimeo is better. Definitely.

    From Austria//09.30.2008
  27. Dear Portugal. The Man,

I have to agree with everyone else, an acoustic album/dvd would be awesome.

In the meantime though, are you guys recording your shows from the soundboard every night or any night for that matter?

I’m sure I’m not alone on this, but it would be completely awesome for you guys to start uploading your live shows, or atleast one or two so
everyone can learn and understand how unbelievably well you guys are able to translate the material from the albums into your live show.

As of now there are only two bootlegs that I can find on the internet, both decent sounding.

Also, maybe there can be a place on the website here to post reviews of previous shows, or a place to upload setlists from night to night. There seems to be enough traffic coming through this website now that if you gave more options for fans to communicate we can set up meet-ups, post pictures, videos, etc.

Or if you don’t want to release any bootlegs from the live shows, would you guys be ok with tapers coming to your shows to record, then posting them up here on the forum? Having the bootlegs can only strengthen the fan base and get people more involved. Just a thought.

You guys better be playing Never Pleased when you get to the states.

Then lastly, are you guys going to have a trumpet player on the road with you? That would be so choice, I (along with everyone else) highly recommend it.

Come to Cincinnati ! There is a huge fan base here waiting to get rocked out.
